GeoHab 2002

The following is a preliminary agenda for the GeoHab 2002 meeting and conference to be held at Moss Landing Marine Lab from May 1st through May 3rd. The Geological Habitat Mapping Project (GeoHab) is an ongoing project involving marine scientists from several countries and from a variety of backgrounds. The objective of GeoHab is to bring together scientists interested in the development of new thematic maps linking acoustic mapping and geological sampling to marine biology in a GIS environment, to underpin sustainable ocean management.

 

Day 1

0900 - 1000 Coffee and registration

1000 - 1015 Introduction, objectives and procedures.

1015 - 1200 Begin technical program with technology based papers, instrumentation, new techniques etc.

1200 - 1330 Lunch

1330 - 1730 Continue technical session. Methodologies, techniques etc.

1800 - 2000 Reception wine & cheese followed by dinner.

 

Day 2

0900 - 1200 Technical session begins, case histories, various mapping projects etc.

1200 - 1330 Lunch

1330 - 1700 Informal working group meetings for participants who wish to get together to discuss their work.
Steering committee meeting.

1700 Closing address and discussion of next meeting.

2000 Dinner


Day 3 (For those who wish to stay)


Field trip to the Big Sur Coast, to look at terrestrial and coastal habitats and geology along an active continental edge .
